Mount Baker’s Wild, AAA runners-up a year ago, are making some noise again in the Kuhunaverse Sports BC Volleyball Championships in Langley.
The Kootenays team beat OKM in five sets (15-12) Thursday afternoon to move to the quarterfinals.

“It was a good game, and a good one to go forward with,” coach John Kendal said.

Kendal thought his side played with more patience on Thursday than the day before when it went 1-2 and placed third in Pool F.
He was especially pleased with the play of setter Riley Byman. “I thought our setter’s decisions were outstanding.”
Baker’s blocking improved in the second half of the fourth set (which Baker lost), Kendal said.

“Both of the middle blockers started communicating with our wings on the outside and that really helped with our blocking.”

Byman and middle Jordan Simpson have both signed with the College of the Rockies.
