MEI put the finishing touch on a nearly perfect season Saturday night by beating Clarence Fulton in three straight sets to win the AA championship.
The Eagles took every set in their tournament run in Langley and lost only one match all season, to AAA power Kelowna, a team they also defeated. It was obvious they had a zest for winning.
“They have it in their DNA,” coach Jordan Geransky said earlier in the week. “Game in, game out, they demonstrated it.”
Clarence Fulton, the second seed, pressured MEI in the set (25-20), attacking with more power.
“They have a lot of offensive pieces that could hurt you,” Geransky said. “They’re a good team.”
Geransky said a lot of players contributed to the victory. “Eli Block had an efficient effort on the right side. And Jordan Loewen was strong. He really responded in the second half of the season when he was healthy. Jordy Koslowsky put our attackers in good spots and Keaton Boughen handled the backcourt well, like he has all season.”
